Who is KCMA?

Statute and Membership

KRS 154-12.203 establishes the Kentucky Commission on Military Affairs as a separate administrative body of state government.

Members of the Commission

The Governor, or his designated representative
The secretary of the Cabinet for Economic Development
The Adjutant General of the Commonwealth
The executive director of the Office of Homeland Security
The secretaries of the following cabinets:

The Attorney General
The Commissioner of the Department of Veterans Affairs
The Executive Director of the Commission, appointed by the Governor, who serves as the administrative head and Chief Executive Officer and is responsible for operating the normal business activities of the Commission with oversight by the Executive Committee
The chairperson of the Kentucky Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve
Kentucky’s Civilian Aides to the Secretary of the Army
Two members of the General Assembly, one appointed by the President of the Senate and one by the Speaker of the House
The Chief Justice of the Kentucky Supreme Court
The commanders of each of the following as non-voting, ex-officio members:

Five (5) at-large members, appointed by the Governor, who are responsible for establishing the goals and objectives of the Commission

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee consists of the Secretary of the Cabinet for Economic Development, the Adjutant General of the Commonwealth, the Executive Director of the KCMA, the Commissioner of the Department of Veterans' Affairs, and the five at-large members of the Commission. The chair and vice-chair of the Commission serve as the chair and vice-chair of the Executive Committee. Meet the executive committee here.
